A group of Messalonskee Middle School students (Cassie Jackson, Sofija Kleinsehmidt, Allison Dorr, Ava Mcleod, Sylvia Henri, Bryn Lilly, Javyn Greenlaw, Sophie Mihm, and Katherine Elliot, Lia Brann, Isabella Belanger, Rebecca D’Aminco, Shelby Kenney, Delaney Johnson, and Penelope Minkel), along with Mrs. Downing (Husson University School Counseling Intern) put together 50 travel care packages for the survivors of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Duct-tape bags were made and filled with the basic necessities: toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, deodorant, Q-tips, combs, hair ties, bandaids, wipes, and sandwich bag. The group also added positive quotes/words of encouragement to each bag. These were sent to Texas on October 7th. Donations were provided by the Messalonskee Middle School Student Leadership Team “Hat Day” fundraiser, Morin Orthodontics from Waterville, Comfort Inn from Augusta, and Ken Whitten.
