Messalonskee Middle School teacher Lauralee Fegel and student Madison Wilson attended the National Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Ambassador Summit in Cleveland, Ohio, last week.
The Fuel up to Play 60 program, which was established by the NFL and American’s dairy farmers, is designed to encourage students to eat healthily and be active. It is the largest in-school wellness program in the nation with over 73,000 schools participating across the country.
Funding for Fegel and Wilson’s trip to Ohio came from the Maine Dairy Council. The four-day summit provided students and educators with resources to help them foster healthy changes within their schools and communities. Many NFL teams sent players to the summit and Fegel and Wilson got to meet New England Patriots Player Nate Ebner, who even recorded a special message for MMS students.
