March is Youth Art Month.

We’ll be running a series of posts about art in RSU 18 this month as part of Youth Art Month.  The following is from MHS art teachers Sarah McDougall and Sherrie Damon.
The MHS Art department has students exhibiting work at multiple locations this month:
 
The Art of Education Youth Art Month Exhibit at the Maine Education Office, Augusta

On Sunday, MHS student Ethan Lahaye has a piece of artwork that will be on display at the MEA office in Augusta. His work is part of an exhibit titled The Art of Education (A Student Art Exhibit Recognizing Youth Art Month). There will be an opening reception and presentation from 1-2:30. The exhibit is up until November 2017, so if you find yourself there between now and then, please look for his paintings.

The Oakland Public Library
RSU18 students in all grades have art exhibited at the library through April 3rd.  There will be an opening reception on Wednesday, March 15thfrom 5:30 – 7. Stay tuned for a list of MHS students in the exhibit.
 
Common Street Arts (in downtown Waterville)
Tara Seymour and Alex Frost both have art on exhibit at this K-12 regional exhibit.  The show closes on April 1st.
Empty Bowls
And of course, we’ll have art at Empty Bowls!  Friday, March 10th from 5 to 7pm in the high school cafeteria. Cost is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students, proceeds to benefit local food pantries.
