Sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students from China Middle School participated in their second Math Meet of the year on Thursday, February 14th at the China Lake Conference Center. Schools from all over the area are challenged to complete a variety of difficult math tests to try and achieve the highest score. The tests are broken down into two individual portions and one team portion. Each team consists of four students, and their overall scores are grouped together at the end of the competition.
At the end of the day, each grade did wonderfully. In the 6th grade, Aislynn Savage placed first and Parker Hunter placed second individually and the team of Aislynn Savage, Parker Hunter, Colin Oliphant, and Lucas Farrington got third place in their grade. In 7th grade, Shae Rodrigue got 3rd place individually while the team of Shae Rodrigue, Isabella Boudreau, Grayson Podey, and Alexia McDonald got third place in their grade. In 8th grade, Lily Matthews got 3rd place individually while the team of Beck Jorgensen, Lily Matthews, Elizabeth Hardy, and Breckon Davidson got first in their grade.
The final Math Meet of the year will take place in early April, and each team will find out how they scored during the entire season. Good luck everyone!
