Thee fifth-grade classes at Williams Elementary School went on a field trip to the Maine State Museum, the Blaine House, and the State House where we were lucky enough to meet Governor Janet Mills.
Usually on the field trip, the students get a tour of the State House and then get a pamphlet of information to take when they go. When my class was halfway through the tour, an employee approached us and said that the Governor would love to meet with our class if we would like to meet with her.
Of course the class was super excited and we agreed to wait there. Governor Janet Mills came out of her office and spent about 10 minutes of her day talking with my students and answering any questions that they had for her. She encouraged them to chase after their dreams. It was such a special surprise for the students and it was the highlight of their day!
