Last Wednesday, May 29th, the MHS Greenhouse club hosted some special guests. Mrs. Forney’s 4th-grade class came up from Williams to help the club plant their spring garden.
“This activity is a great way for our HS students to mentor younger students,” said Greenhouse club coach Beth Prelgovisk. “They get to teach them a life skill.”
This is the 3rd year that the Greenhouse club has engaged in such collaborations with the elementary school. Students get invited up in the spring to learn how to plant a variety of vegetables and in the fall to learn how to harvest and prepare the garden for the winter.
On Wednesday, Mrs. Forney’s class learned how to plant onions, beans, potatoes, corn, peppers, squash, pumpkins, and tomatoes. Each student also got to take home seeds to plant their own garden.
