There’s a definite sense of anticipation in all of our schools. The custodial staff is wrapping up summer clean up, teachers are busy in their classrooms, and the administrative staff is getting everything ready for the first days back. In addition to the usual back to school buzz, our schools have been hopping with some major summer projects. We wanted to finish updating you on a few more that were completed across the district.
CPS has been focused on the Honeywell efficiency project this summer. Lighting upgrades were made throughout the building along with upgrades to the HVAC system and controls. Improvements have been made to the water heaters and ventilation systems and CO2 sensors have been updated where needed. CPS also has some roof work that is being finished up right now.
James Bean School had many windows replaced this summer and energy efficiency and heating upgrades throughout the school.
More roof work was completed at MHS along with significant energy efficiency and heating upgrades. MHS science classrooms were also updated and the final treatments were completed to make the track and field at the new athletics complex fully usable by our student sports teams and community members.
Williams Elementary School has been buzzing with activity this summer as well. A lot of work was done to update the HVAC and heating system, a section of the roof was redone, and brickwork repairs were done on the back side of the building.
That’s it for the big summer projects, although all of our schools have been very busy getting ready for the new school year. We can’t wait to welcome you back in a few short days!
