A few years ago, Belgrade Central School started a fundraiser to help students who were facing serious medical issues by raising money for all children who require care at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in the Barbara Bush Wing of Maine General Hospital. They invited students to dress as superheroes and bring in their spare change to donate.
Linda Click, who is now a Pre-K teacher at JHB, had the idea of starting this fundraiser, “in an effort to honor the amazing, brave superhero kids who need care at the hospital and to celebrate the amazing braze superhero doctors and nurses who provide wonderful care for so many children.”
This past Friday, October 25th, many other RSU 18 schools joined the cause. Students across the district came to school in their favorite Superhero attire and brought in monetary donations. Between all the schools that participated this year, over $1700 was raised for the Pediatric ICU at Maine General.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who took part!
