One of our MHS students, Alyssa Monteith, competed in the Northern Maine Regional Poetry Out Loud competition on Monday, February 3rd.
Each year, students from across the nation participate in this renowned poetry recitation competition, sharing their love of the written and spoken word through the art of poetry. Alyssa recited three poems from memory: “Actaeon” by A.E. Stallings, “And If I Did, What Then?” by George Gascoigne, and “That’s My Heart Right There” by Willie Perdomo.
Though she did not make it into the top ten, she had a blast representing RSU 18 at regionals and met some great students from other schools. Congratulations, Alyssa!
