James Bean first and second-grade teacher Luanne Phair is the recipient of this year’s MEA Teaching Excellence Award!
“She runs a classroom that is inclusive and sets fair boundaries and structure for all,” said Nancy Mitchell, RSU 18 ELL teacher and MEA Co-President. Mrs. Phair worked with diverse populations of students from Florida to New Hampshire before making her way to Maine. She has done so much to help other teachers during her career. She has mentored many student teachers and beginning teachers along the way.
“I knew that I had won the lottery when Luanne agreed to join the JHB staff,” said Principal Erica St.Peter. “Mrs. Phair is a dynamic and effective educator who has proven to be an invaluable leader on our staff. We are so fortunate to have a teacher of Mrs. Phair’s caliber working with our students.”
Mrs. Phair will receive her award at an event planned for August and will move on to represent Maine at the national awards in Washington D.C.
Congratulations, Mrs. Phair! We are proud of you!
