Helpful tips and distractions for the week of July 13th

Do you know about the Great Smoky Mountains synchronous fireflies? I didn’t either, but they are kind of amazing.  Follow the link for some fascinating info on fireflies and a beautiful, relaxing video of the synchronous fireflies doing their thing.

UMaine Cooperative Extension is hosting an online presentation on food preservation Friday, July 24th. If you’ve built or expanded a garden this year, this could be a good way to enjoy the fruits (and vegetables) of your labor long into the winter.
