RSU 18 schools engaged in some pretty great out of the box thinking to welcome students back to this rather unusual school year. Small group outdoor gatherings, beep and greets, and online video tours gave students a way to meet their teachers and get familiar with their new school or classroom. Several schools even created virtual open houses that they sent out to parents and posted to their websites.
Whether in written form or in a video recording, the virtual open houses gave teachers a way to introduced themselves and welcomed students back to school.
“It was a great way for all staff members to be involved in the Open House and introduced people parents hear about but don’t always get to meet,” said CPS principal Darlene Pietz. “It was a great way to start a very challenging year for all.”
