Sidewalk Math at BCS

Mrs. Dunbar’s class has been learning about equivalencies in math. One way that 2nd grade students demonstrate equivalencies is through Name Collection Boxes. Students write down as many ways as they can think of to represent a number. Students can use number models, tally marks, ten frames, the list is endless! After learning about Name Collection Boxes, each student was assigned a number and given a piece of chalk to take their Name Collection Box to the sidewalk. Look at that great mathematical thinking!
