Every year at BCS, our first graders turn a pumpkin into their favorite character from a book!
This is a family project done at home, where the students and their families choose a book together, read it, and decorate a pumpkin to show off their favorite character. They also write a short book report that describes their favorite character, tells about some of the things the character does in the book, and if they like their character and why or why not.
This project is one of our favorites and we look forward to seeing what students come up with year after year! Some of the characters from this year included Pete the Cat, Forky, Fly Guy (Police Officer), Mercy Watson, Piggie from Mo Willems, and more.
