JHB took part in the 12th Annual World Read Aloud Day as part of their Global Play Day Celebration on Wednesday, February 5th!
JHB students and staff were joined virtually by two special guest readers; Superintendent Carl Gartley and Assistant Superintendent Keith Morin both hopped on Google Meet to read specially chosen books to classrooms and remote students. Mr. Gartley read Little Polar Bear and the Husky Pup by Hans de Beer in the morning and Mr. Morin read Up in the Leaves by Shira Boss after lunch. Mr. Gartley and Mr. Morin both took the time to share how their chosen stories connected to their own lives, and why reading was important to them.
World Read Aloud Day, created by the nonprofit organization LitWorld, calls on participants to “grab a book, find an audience, and read-aloud!” The day is designed to call attention to the importance of sharing stories to bring people together and is now celebrated in over 173 countries around the world.
Thank you to everyone who participated in World Read Aloud day, and keep reading!
