The Human Body, In Action!

Fifth graders at JHB have spent the month of January learning about the organ systems of the human body. They read various nonfiction texts, researched medical problems and solutions, narrated their way through the digestive system, and entertained one another with performances of “The Case of the Most Important Human Body System.” As a culminating project, teams of students stepped into the operating room to carefully piece together their own patients. Lift each organ and you’ll find a written description of that organ’s primary function (important job) within its system. In this interdisciplinary unit students learned the role each system plays in keeping us alive and moving, as well as the importance of keeping ALL of our systems healthy. Not too shabby for a group of fifth grade interns!
