CMS 5th Graders have been working diligently during their poetry unit this month. They have been learning about the structure of poetry, the many types of poetry, and how to incorporate figurative language.
Not only are they reading poetry, but they are also crafting pieces to put into a poetry portfolio. What better way to get inspiration for a Haiku poem than to experience the beauty of nature!
Students took a poetry walk on Wednesday, March 10th, and recorded notes and drawings of what they saw, felt, and heard. Then, they used their experience to write a Haiku. They are very excited to show off their poetry at the end of the month.
