This year, Atwood teacher Tammy Pullen was able to show all of the second grade classrooms at Atwood how to tap maple trees, with a little help from Ethan Pullen.
This project was part of the second graders’ Maine unit. “We wanted all of the children to know how important maple syrup is to our state,” said Mrs. Pullen, “and how it is made: from sap to evaporation to sticky, sweet maple syrup.”
At the end of the Maine unit, all of the second graders brought home a small jug of maple syrup to enjoy with their families
