As the weather has warmed up a lot has been happening in our third grade classroom! We went on two more adventures in our school forest with Mrs. Smith. We went on a story walk and learned more about the animals we might find in the woods in Maine while listening to Who Pooped in the Northwoods? By Gary D. Robson. It was a great way to kick off our learning about Maine and get us thinking about animals and what we can learn about them from what they leave behind in the woods as we will learn about animal adaptations before the end of the year.
We also participated in a community service project with Mrs. Smith. She shared a book called A Seed is Sleepy by Dianna Hutts Aston and then showed us how to make seed balls using soil, a little bit of water, and a variety of wildflower seeds. The students then threw their balls of soil and seeds that they had created into an area right off of our playground on the edge of the forest. Hopefully, we will get to see these seeds grow into flowers as we play outside on our playground and spring weather works its magic!
