GETTING THEIR SHINE ON:  Messalonskee High School Girls Soccer held its 6th annual “ShineOn Saturday”  September 18 at Messalonskee High School to honor former Messalonskee soccer player Cassidy Charette by hosting a girls youth soccer mentoring day.  Charette was a leading Eagle mid-fielder and a youth mentor before she was killed in a hayride accident on October 11, 2014. Girls, ages Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5, attended the event, which is organized each year by the Messalonskee Girls Soccer teams and the ShineOnCass Foundation.

The ShineOnCass Foundation was created to educate, inspire, and empower youth to shine their own light through acts of kindness and volunteer charitable activities. For more information about the Foundation or becoming involved in ShineOnCass initiatives, visit shineoncass.org or email shineoncass@gmail.com.

Doran and her teammates were part of the sixth annual event to promote youth mentoring and share kindness in memory of former Lady Eagle, Cassidy Charette.

Pre-Kindergartener Lucianna Clark proudly shares her autographed team photo of the Messalonskee High School Girls Soccer players she met at ShineOn Saturday.

Coach Chris DelGiudice, flanked by his soccer team, speaks to a group of young girls attending ShineOn Saturday.  The annual event links members of the Messalonskee High School Girls Soccer team with area girls for a day of learning soccer skills, playing field games, and honoring former soccer player and youth mentor, Cassidy Charette.
