Williams Elementary is so thankful for our Oakland police officers who frequently visit our school. Our students love it when they join us for recess.
Upon sharing this article, Police Chief, Michael Tracy, responded, “All of the officers at the Oakland Police Department are proud of our relationship with our schools. We love all of the students and staff, and we will always try to be there for them!” Mr. Morin, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, commented that he was standing in front of Williams Elementary School with Dep. Chief Stubbert early in the morning this week, and sees Chief Tracy there many mornings. Mr. Morin shares, “I can attest to the difference that the Oakland Police Department makes on our kids and parents. I’ve heard comments like, “Thank you for being out here,” and an excited good morning from students. Rick Stubbert knew them by name. Relational aspects of every job as we know are important, but a greeting from a police officer as a student on any morning has a tremendous impact on their day. Thank you to the Oakland Police Department for exemplifying the motto of RSU 18 – taking care of every student, in every school, every day.”
