Atwood Primary School first graders in Mrs. Weatherbie’s classroom have been working hard on learning what an opinion is. They have been trying out some opinion writing pieces – guided by the Lucy Calkins writing program along with some fun new writing paper!
By using a neat collection of five items from their home or classroom, children were challenged to rate the items from first place to fifth place. These young writers then were challenged to pick their favorite item and show their friends the “Best in Show!” Students sketched and gave many opinions about why they ranked their five items the way they did, all while learning that it is okay to give an opinion, as long as it’s done in a respectful manner. #WeAreRSU18 #AtwoodAwesome
