Today was Atwood’s Dress Like an Elf, Bring Food for the Shelf event. Principal Jenn McGee started the tradition four years ago as the kick off to December’s Falala Fridays. The event raises money and collects food for our local food pantry.
“It’s really caught on,” said Principal McGee. “We posted it on Facebook two years ago and a school in Canada began doing it as well.”
Atwood has several little traditions to keep spirits high this month. Today is also the day that Ralph, Atwood’s personal Elf on the Shelf, begins hiding all around the school. Falala Fridays continue with warm and cozy Pajama Day on December 8th and Dress up Day on December 15th for the high school holiday concert.
Today’s event brought in over 500 items for the food pantry! Good work, elves!
