It is not very often that our teachers are encouraged to stray from the district’s learning goals. During JHB Day, for one hour, teachers are encouraged to do just that.
Instead of crafting lessons aligned to the curriculum, they craft a lesson aligned to their personal interests, talents or hobbies. Students sign up for the activity that piques their personal interests. Students are placed into cross-grade level groups and work with an adult that they may or may not interact with on a daily basis.
JHB day was celebrated on February 15th. This round of offerings included doing yoga, playing Eagle Ball, finger knitting, card games, creating sock snowmen, and many more engaging activities.
