Grade 5 Chorus:
During the distance learning, grade 5 students at WES, JHB and BCS have been invited to sing along weekly with YouTube music videos created by Pam Rhein and Amy Peterson. Mrs. Rhein and Mrs. Peterson have provided rounds and songs that they would typically sing for a community service field trip to Nursing homes. They also provided tracks and lyrics in google classroom for students to continue to enjoy singing songs that they were going to share with friends and family at the scheduled spring concert. Our final week of “new learning” will include information about trying out Grade 6 Chorus at Messalonskee Middle School. Mr. Rhein joined us for our final week’s recording!
General Music:
The RSU18 elementary general music teachers provided many activities and opportunities to continue learning about music throughout the weeks of distance learning. They provided weekly offerings of educational resources, including activities to create instruments, listen to sounds around them, and explore music in different ways. One of the activities offered was to have the students sing along with a video or their favorite song. As another way to connect with their music students, each music teacher-created videos of themselves singing and sharing books and songs for students to sing along with. Here are some pictures of some of the videos:
