Parents of Williams Elementary Students,
At the end of this week the Maine CDC may identify our Williams Elementary School as having an outbreak status. In the last two weeks we have had three individuals associated with the school test positive for COVID-19. Three cases (staff or students) is the threshold for declaring an outbreak in a school.
In two of these three cases, the individuals involved never entered the school after becoming a close contact. The third unknowingly did enter the school, and this was sent out to parents and staff. All of the people involved are wrapping up their quarantines and there have been no more cases as a result.
I commend the families and staff across the district. As has been the case all year, your open communication and commitment to our community has allowed us to keep our students and staff safe and our schools open.
Thank you to everyone.
Carl Gartley, Superintendent of Schools
