Messalonskee Middle School’s last week of school was epic!
Bowling and Skating: Team Dirigo had its first field trip since 5th grade. The team went bowling and skating at the Ice Vault in Augusta. They also had an ice cream social!
MLTI Virtual Conference: Several teams participated in the MLTI virtual conference. Students learned to create animations, make 3D rockets, and code.
Cooking Up Some Culinary Skills: Students in Mrs. Hutchinson’s 8th grade health elective class spent time cooking in class! They learned all kinds of culinary skills as well as kitchen safety and kitchen hygiene. Homemade pizza dough and pizzas were a big hit as well as chicken veggie stir fry, spaghetti and homemade sauce, caesar salad, homemade bread, fruit kabobs, smoothies, muffins, cookies, and other culinary delights. Cleaning up after themselves, washing pots and pans, and wearing hair nets or hats and aprons were all a part of this class. Mrs. Hutchinson is very proud of all the students who participated in this class.
Staycation: Team Boothbay did a “Staycation” day to celebrate the end of the year! They had a team pancake breakfast, pizza party, and ice cream sundae bar! On top of eating, they also rented a rock wall, had a team kickball tournament, and did chalk art!

Flood Brothers Farm: Mrs. Fegel took the Unified Fuel Up to Play 60 team to the Flood Brothers Farm to celebrate a year of being active and making healthy food and dairy choices. Jenni Tilton Flood, one of the owners, gave the students a tour of their state of the art Delaval milking parlor and farm, taught them about how milk goes from farm to table, let the kids touch the cows, and gave the students bags of cheese to sample. Lots of fun was had by all who attended. The trip was funded by a grant from the Maine Dairy Council.
