Writing in Nature

At Williams Elementary School, Mrs. Moody and Ms. LaPointe ventured to the pond with their fifth graders using the Messalonskee trails to use nature as inspiration for poetry writing. The students sketched observations at the pond and recorded notes in their writers’ notebooks. Students’ favorite nature sightings were seeing the floating “island,” spotting a possible beaver, and observing crayfish. The students are already looking forward to their next outdoor writing session!
