Celebrating our Retirees: RSU 18 Nutrition

Today we celebrate our amazing nutrition workers who are retiring.

Peggy Sirois worked for the district for 30 years.  She worked in both Nutrition and Custodial positions. She is a very kind, friendly person who loves to chat.  She loves telling of her many “deals” she gets on her shopping expeditions.  She is a true “Mainer” who loves to shop at Marden’s.  She also loved gardening and is very meticulous about her gardens and how they look. Peg is a hard worker and always gets the job done.  We enjoyed working with her in Nutrition and she will be missed.

June Vigue worked for our District for 19 years. Her love for children shows in her work.  She worked hard to make sure the kids had everything they needed, from meals to hugs to tying their shoes. Her family and grandchildren are her pride and joy.   June loves to travel and one of her favorite trips was when she and Kathy Sprague hopped in the car and drove to Vegas. Slot machines were her weakness. She will be missed at Belgrade Central and by her nutrition colleagues.

Kathy Sprague is retiring from our Nutrition Program after 39 years of service.  Kathy has provided breakfast and lunch to numerous generations of children at Belgrade Central School.  Her connection with the community is wonderful and extremely helpful. Knowing the families on a personal level gives the district an advantage when children have needs such as special diets.  Meeting with the families and being that familiar face makes it easier for those people to come to us for help.  She offered a smile every morning when the children came to breakfast.  She was flexible to Administrative needs when there were schedule changes and special events. Kathy’s smile and kindness will be missed by all the students and staff at BCS.  We thank her for her service to our communities’ children.

Cindy French is retiring after 42 years of service to the China school community in the role of nutrition worker.  She began her career by assisting in the preparation and serving of school lunches at China Elementary School which is now China Middle.  For the last several years, Cindy has been the nutrition site supervisor at China Primary School.  She arrives here early every weekday morning and has shared with her coworkers that she is looking forward to enjoying many sunrises in retirement. Cindy enjoys gardening, kayaking, and connecting with friends and family.  She will be welcoming a great-grandson this winter and plans to spend as much time as she can with the new addition to her family.  We want to thank Cindy for her service and dedication to the well being of China children for so many years.  We wish her the best in her retirement.
